Waldrop PacSeat Turkey Seat Vs Full Size
What are some good gps devices for hunting, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jason for the videos!!!
Thanks
It’s always amazing to me how much more focused on form and follow through when I’m practicing with a broadhead versus field point. Probably because I shoot SO much with field points that I become complacent. I’m gonna go shoot some broadhead shots today!!
As a brand new bow hunter, but not new to hunting, how do I know when I’m good enough with the bow to hunt ethically & effectively?
Bowhunting Is about getting close. 20 yards and under is best. If you are proficient with your bow at 20 set up for 20 yard shots, if only proficient at 15 set up for 15 and under shots.
I noticed with field tips to shoot with cock feather out with hunting tips I need to shoot with cock feather in don't know why for me it makes a difference. Great video
I know people that shooting cock feather in gives better flight too. As long as it's flying right thays all that matters. But glad you are taking the time to test and find what works best
Awesome video, what part of Ga are you located in where would you be hunting this year ?
South East ga. Will be hunting 4 states and not sure which ones yet
Agree… just made final selection and into Broadhead warm up mode… 1 month to go.
Love hearing that.
Great video Jason! Really miss you podcast still listening to the reruns 😅
I miss making them. But honestly giving up that time to increase my videos on my samkoworkshop channel was the best decision I ever made.
You are 100% spot on about the mental factor of shooting with a broadhead! Personally for me was because when I first started hunting tuning a broadhead was a nightmare and left a bad memory about shooting broadheads since I was not confident with them . Now I have a way better shooting set up and having confidence with a broadhead is everything
Yep the confidence is everything with broadheads.
Great review. The only issue with these stands is the cost. I just cant justify changing from my Assaults to either of these options because of the cost. Bottmoline, Im not going to see more or kill more or bigger bucks with either of these stands.
And honestly I personally believe the assault is the best stand ever make. I dont think anything today is better. If novix brought back the original assault design I would sell all my other stands and buy 2 of them.
Great video again I am shooting the ace super express glue on with 100gr adapter as a 300gr screw in this year. Did you have to change your nock point to accommodate for such high foc?
Great set up. Not sure about the nock point as I have shot high foc for so long. but right now as a split finger shooter im 5/8s over center.
Spot on. My general procedure is to shoot one cold shot in the morning before I leave the house. I shoot my max comfortable distance(currently 30yds with a 10" center of the target i consider the kill zone) and I do it with a broadhead. Then I take a pic of the arrow in the target before I pull it and it's on my phone to live with for the day. I'm envious of your seasons. Here in Alaska my "archery only" season Is a whopping 7 days long. Entire moose season is 30 days. At least black bear is year around
The cold shot and live with it is a very sobering tactic...lol But sure does make you focus. In michigan my total season was 90 days and then bowfishing in the summer. Down here in ga now its 6 months of deer and year round hogs. love it down here.
Huge fan Jason, thank you for all of the content you have put together. It is like a roadmap for aspiring hog hunters. I started trying to get a job in SC while in OH watching your videos. You ended up moving to coastal GA... I ended up moving to coastal GA. Today I have an interview with Bryan county that would provide me some stability. I hunt the base more... and more often. Muddy Black Grand Cherokee with USMC stickers spanning 2 generations, say hi if you see me, I would love to thank you personally. Your channel is more important to people than you may realize. Judging by the unmistakeable smile on his face, I think I saw Mr. Carter the other day. Rock on dude !!! Bill McStay
Love hearing this success story! Chasing your dreams and making it happen is never easy but so very worth it. email me your contact info jason@tbwpodcast.com We need to exchange numbers and that way if you need any help out there you can reach me.
So this video couldn’t have been posted at a more appropriate time. This is my 1st yr trad hunting. Been an adventure since January figuring out everything that goes into this process!!!! Just received my 1st pack of 3 broadheads the other day and walked out into backyard and shot with them. Well I guess I reference my arrow tip WAY more than I thought!!!! My broadheads are about 3/4in longer then my field tip making what I’m referencing as my tip different. I was hitting 8-10in high due to broadhead. I did watch a Push Archery video where they would paint a thin white ring around arrow at the insert as the reference point that way broadheads and field tips are the same. What a difference for me though and glad I saw this now not a week before season!!!!
Here's an idea instead of referencing the tip reference the end of the shaft that way point length doesn't matter
@@scottlindholm5568that’s the idea of putting something light colored on end of arrow such as a dab of white paint.
Love this. Thats what its all about and why we test and practice with our gear. You are in the same boat every single one of us were at one time. doing and learning the exact same things.
Hey Jason. I know you have your system dialed but I wanted to share the way I pack out animals on public that doesn't affect the pack. I just bring 2 large Allen Game bags. I use the large because I need the extra length. I divide the meat evenly between the 2 bags. Then I tie the top openings together into a knot then sling it over my back/neck/traps where they are hanging against my front. Allows me to pack out my backpack/treestand the same way I packed it in and prevents getting the pack all bloody or dealing with garbage bags. But I will say that it does get your clothes more bloody. Just thought I'd share if anyone might get some help from it. Thanks for the video.
Brilliant system! Thanks for sharing. The pannar bag style carry like that is an excellent idea.
I have been looking for your channel! Subd
Glad you found it. Thanks for the sub!
How come your custom bow is a leftie, and your Samick is a righty?
Samick is my daughters
Thank you for sharing your experience.

lol that was great.
Glad you enjoyed it
Do you prefer the lineman belt vs a full body harness for tree stand hunting? I’m new to hang on stands this year, just looking for advice
you want both. You need a good harness to keep you safe. you will want a safety tether from that harness connected to the tree while you are hunting. The lineman belt is to help keep you safe as you climb an also to let you be hands free off the tree while hanging your sticks and stand.
I get so much crap for shooting brass nocks but I've never had issues with it! However, I have seen tied on nocks move and throw everything off.
Agree 100% actually ran into a crossbow hunter in missouri that saw me walking a road back to the truck. we were talking for a minute and he said so your a newbie to the trad world huh? I said what makes you think that. He said the brass nock! when I get more into trad I will start to make my own tie on nocks! he said then I will start to make my own arrows and eventually my own strings, but all things in time. I said thanks will have to look into that stuff.
Thank you for sharing. I agree the Lone Wolf Assaults are the treestand of long ago but are everything a tree stand should be. I'll never get rid of my Lone Wolf Assault treestands. Best treestand EVER made. I also agree at 53 years old, that I just use what works. I have tried many new hunting innovations but my go-to's remain the same. I hunt the hill country of SW Wisconsin. While we may not have 3 mile hikes, the hills are a beast especially when using the steepest terrain to enter and exit. I agree, pack-in and pack-out weight is less of a factor than the industry makes it out to be. BUCK in THE TRUCK 2024.
Well said! And cheers to an amazing upcoming 2024 deer season!
Jesus, I've just watched 10 videos trying to find out stiff/weak- goes to the left or to the right.... and it was unclear, or even contradictory..... in less than 3 minutes you made me understand the process and not just which way is which. Now I know what to do with my bloody arrows 😅😆😁. Thank you Sir!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Masterclass
Glad you enjoyed it
@@tradbowpodcast I am often in Austin where the deer population in the city/urban areas is excessive so the deer are not shy of cars and to some extent people. When you are in the greenbelt and the backwoods that lead into the neighborhoods you can often catch them spying on you from 50-60 yards and thats the first time Ive noticed the fake eating/head lowered behavior to keep an eye on you. I happened to surprise one coming up a hill once and were we in 12-15 yards of each other and she let me walk past her but she stomped her right leg which i thought was aggressive behavior. Food for thought. DO you do guided hunts?
@@derknizotts9162 I do not do guided hunts never did. rather do it all my self if i can as I learn more. the foot stomp is for 2 things. main reason is to scare you to get you to move because she can not identify you fully. if you move she will be able to build your outline and see you. second reason is she is letting all other deer know something is nor right there and to pay attention.
I like brass knocks
Hey Jason I loved the comment about move down south and hunt the wma it’s harder to find deer on big woods not like small tracks of trees for bedsing
Yep whole different world in the big woods areas
Great video brother all the good stuff. Let’s do a pack dump next.
Will be doing a pack dump soon
That was a really good video. And timely! I'm working now on what my setups will be this fall.
It's that time of year! Deer season right around the corner!
I'd buy a quad before I walked a mile to my stand. At least an electric bike
Ths
Nice video and I like your setup and I hope you have a better year then last year and good luck with all of your hunting
Thank you. And hope you have an amazing season too
@@tradbowpodcast thank you and I hope I do also
I have been considering that Turkey seat. Really like the full size one.
Love them both! But really like how low I can get in the turkey seat
Man you ain’t kidding about the walking. The WMA I hunt in Alabama if you wanna to hunt areas that aren’t super pressured you gotta walk a minimum of a mile.
Yep there is some ground to be covered down here in the south
Have you ever tried the ground effect hunting chair by 03 outfitters?
I have not
I’m getting back into traditional archery after a bad shoulder injury in your honest opinion do you think this set up will work 40 lbs long bow at 27 1/2 inches probably 37 at my draw gold tip 500 spine cut at 28” 100 gr insert and a 150 gr magnus killer bee broadhead I have shot this combo at 15 yards and 20 yards and I’m touching arrows together I have not bare shaft tuned yet my buddy has the same set up but hasn’t hunted with it in a couple of years I can only shoot a few arrows a day I’m not try to over stress my shoulder but I’m getting stronger every day sorry for the long text I watch all your videos and you by far have some of the best information out there thanks again
Glad you are healing up and the shoulder getting better. Yep that combo will work great. Now as far as the laws goes in your state check to see the minimum allowed weight so you dont get in trouble. But as far as the performance yes it will work and kill deer all day everyday.
Wheel locker? What's that? This video is great. I was about to buy an expensive winch, now all I have to get is some expensive straps.
a locker locks both back wheels together in the axel so that they actually spin together. without a locker its an open differential and what ever wheel breaks free the easiest is the one that defines the torque to the other one. basically meaning when you are stuck and wheels can spin your 2wd truck is only one wheel drive (the one that spins easiest) and in 4wd its only 2 wheel drive, one in the front and one in the rear (whatever front and rear spins easiest) and in 4wd with a rear locker its really a 3 wheel drive as both rear wheels are locked together. only true 4 wheel drive is a vehicle like the jeep rubicon with front and rear lockers.
What is the name of the glue you use?
Can't remember but just normal pvc cement
I live in Florida where the4e is a high water table. Is this a good idea for hiding precious metals?
would probably work great as I never had water in any of mine. But I also tried to put them in high spots with less pooling water.
Hey Jason, does going in with a white light cause ever get you busted? My initial thought is a head lamp won't be too bad if I'm simply setting up on a travel corridor between bedding and food, but I imagine it could bust you if you're trying to set up very close to bedding. I'm in Florida and like you, there's a lot of massive glass orb weavers at face level and poisonous snakes to look out for. I prefer having a white light because taking a big spider to the face isn't what I call a good time. Thanks for your help!
I have used white, green and red. all do the exact same. I actually think white is better for not busting deer as they can not see you thru the light and they just see the light. then they just casually get up and slowly walk away. if i turn the light off they then see me snort and bust out. and white light is vital down here for the reasons you mentioned. I will never use anything other than white light.
Any certain way you tie the dangler? I definitely like this for another option of carrying fixies great video!
I tie a loop on the end big enough to fit the knife thru so I just slid the loop under my belt and stick the knife thru the loop and it drops in my pocket.
@@tradbowpodcast thanks man I'm definitely gonna try it!
You did not do your research. Spend more and buy a BigFoot travel trailer.
What about Nikon and Leupold?
both fantastic
Wow, this is thorough! TY!
glad you enjoyed it.
I like the second one its already set up wit wood 🎉
What type of garden hose is this green one? What company?
flexzilla. best hose on the market and not expensive
@@tradbowpodcast Thanks for the information. It's hard to find it in Poland. But I'll try ordering on Amazon. Because it looks really great.
Why stop at pine? Go for 3/4” plywood.
Creek Walker is the finest quiver for a Tradbow no doubt
Agree
I shoot just like you do. Fletch my own arrows so fetching is about 1/2 inch from nose. I come to full anchor, then just a short pull, fletch touches nose. Shot instantly. Gives me the Best of both Static and Dynamic. Thank You.
Perfect system
I use the Solid Grip Trigger from RMS Gear. You set your position, and then set it up so that you just apply a little tension in both directions until it pops. It's a quiet & unintrusive device.
And honestly I've never seen a better release that you have. You shoot amazing
I shot static for so long probably because my lightest bow was around 60lb and the heaviest was 80+. Try letting that back tension flick the drawing hand back with those bows and there is a risk of injury. These days, I'm lucky to still shoot 60lb and I have modified my static release so that I must hit anchor and on the shot, the hand moves back from my anchor to my ear. Looks like the old 'cutting the throat' move. It's deliberate and controlled, but it can end up being a very fast shot and I have been accused of snap shooting but it's definitely not snap shooting.
Perfect
I have had to do static on release hand because I sometimes end up in bad target/moving object panic where I have panic trouble in releasing arrow. dynamic/semi dynamic in bow handle hand where I am pushing in draw up to 1/2--2/3 of the way. I also find I can fix the alignment my shot again should that be off for or slowly moving object.
Yep whatever style or blend works best for you is whats best.
@@tradbowpodcast Yep like my brother who can nock arrow and shoot dynamic under 1 minute and sill do a Howard Hill/instinctive gap. For a pause he will only go 1/2 way or go back to neural and go again as he is so quick to a full proper shot. Helps he has Dual dormancy and almost 20/20 vison where he needs mainly for seeing further away/like HD not 480.
@@tradbowpodcast Nice feature of our shooting is we can hold if we need to and if good enough rotate on a slow-moving object in same vertical line.
